Why the ULTIMATE BOARDER™ Competition?

Across the country, irrespective of proximity to mountains, skate parks or the ocean, snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing have rapidly grown in popularity and are now considered mainstream sports. In addition, corporations are building successful marketing programs surrounding these sports, creating more demand and making the sports even more accessible to young athletes. More people are moving away from traditional sports to enjoy these healthy, outdoor, active lifestyles.

The ULTIMATE BOARDER™ is the only competition of its kind. There is currently NO athletic contest that takes athletes on a week long journey of snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing, from the mountains to the street and finally ending in the sea. The ULTIMATE BOARDER™was created in response to the growing popularity of these sports, and as a way to promote healthy athletic lifestyles among young athletes in a positive and competitive environment that grooms role models and heroes for our country's next generation.

Statistics
It is no longer a secret that surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding have transcended their regional participation roots. According to the SGMA Sports Participation Topline Report 2006 Edition, surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding have ranked among the highest growing outdoor sports in North America. Their increase between the years 1998 and 2005 has been steady, with surfing showing the highest increase in participation at +90.5%, skateboarding at +58.3% and snowboarding at +33.7%. Conversely, more traditional sports have continued to decline over the same period: Baseball (-16.7%); Basketball (-24.6%); Volleyball (-21.5%); Golf (-14.2%) and Ice Hockey (-11.3%).
